Things learned while recovering from Louis C.K.’s “Hilarious” screening and Q&A:
- He originally turned down FX’s offer because of money but didn’t want to make “Charlie Sheen money and have to wear shorts and tell shitty lines other people wrote”
- Turned down an offer by J.J. Abrams because he hates acting and didn’t know who “JJXYLMNO Abrams was”
- Enjoys the control and freedom he has with FX execs who don’t see scripts and are pleasantly surprised each week when he delivers a new episode: “Oh, hey, you know Matthew Broderick?”
- Got his film education by going through shelves of the famous and now defunct Kim’s Video
- Thought about becoming a lawyer working for the ACLU and defending free speech but couldn’t get up early enough to pursue it/didn’t want to waste mom’s money on college
- Has shown his daughter clips of him talking about her in his act… and shared a sweet moment with her understanding when he’s “being fake angry for comedy”
- Strives to write better female characters because of growing up and constantly being around and in fear of, women
Basically sent me into comedy geekgasm overdrive completely entranced by wanting to hear him talk about life and comedy forever while finding myself oddly loving him in a Ewan McGregor-kind of way.
